ARAMEX ARAMEX
The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and Aramex have officially begun pilot testing for Aramex’s innovative autonomous robot delivery system at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), a hub for knowledge and innovation and a member of DIEZ.
This initiative represents a significant advancement in integrating sustainable autonomous delivery solutions into Dubai’s urban landscape. It aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and plays a key role in achieving Dubai’s vision of converting 25% of its transportation network to autonomous systems by 2030.
Equipped with the ability to perform multiple deliveries in a single trip, the robot improves operational efficiency and is projected to cut carbon emissions by over 500 kilograms during its three-month trial period. Designed to serve over 1,000 packages autonomously, it will initially cater to customers in the Cedre Villas community.
Looking ahead, DIEZ aims to expand this groundbreaking initiative across its other economic zones, including Dubai Airport Freezone and Dubai CommerCity, further contributing to sustainable urban development.

he Dubai Program to Enable Drone Transportation has been launched in the emirate.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) launched the initiative during the recently concluded Dubai Airshow 2021.
The programme is aimed at strengthening Dubai’s global competitiveness in adopting advanced technologies in vital sectors. A unique pilot area will be allocated in Dubai Silicon Oasis for innovators and related entities from the UAE and abroad to develop and test new drone solutions.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “The Dubai Program to Enable Drone Transportation will create an advanced infrastructure that enables innovators and relevant entities to test prototypes of unmanned aerial vehicles in designated areas and develop legislation that optimizes their implementation. The program aims to provide new economic opportunities and consolidate Dubai’s leadership in advanced technology research and development across diverse future-oriented sectors.”

Dubai Municipality signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones (DIEZ) Authority as part of the Dubai Horizons System, which organizes routes in low-altitude airspace and drone landing locations. The MoU supports the aspirations of Dubai in the field of air mobility and achieving objectives and strategies of Dubai Municipality for the Dubai Horizons System with regard to planning routes for drones, airport locations, and low-altitude airspace landing locations, based on the partners’ experiences in civil aviation requirements and policies related to it, and the Municipality’s expertise in urban planning.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Eng. Mariam Al Muhairi, Acting CEO of the Buildings Regulation and Permits Agency at Dubai Municipality; and Eng. Muammar Al Katheeri, Chief Officer Engineering and Sustainability at the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ).
Al Muhairi said: “The agreements and strategic partnerships related to the Dubai Horizons System are in line with the aspirations of the Emirate of Dubai in the field of infrastructure for the aviation sector and the locations of airports and runways designated for drones. It ensures development services related to this sector and reinforces the attractiveness, leadership, and competitiveness of Dubai and its leading position in the industry.
